Japan : Where was Loudness?

Im kinda shocked the greatest metal band from Japan (IMO) which is LOUDNESS was never mentioned throughout the japan part.

reply

Never heard of it.

reply

Me neither.
It was however more than right that they mentioned X Japan. That is really a great band, with, to my knowledge, the longest heavy metal song ever made.
Especialy the live version of 'Art of Life' on DVD is great!!

reply

Who was the band in that last studio scene in Japan? That was awesome.

reply

it was Sigh with "me-devil" from the cd "hangman's hymn"

reply

You can't say that you like hm if you don't know LOUDNESS...

reply

Yeah, it was a shame Loudness was not mentioned in the film. That's the only gripe I have, but other than that, this film is a great documentary.

I think it's all to easy to just use X-Japan to represent all Japanese rock/metal, which is rather a disservice to the country's music. Yes, X is great. I'm a big fan myself. But the metal&rock scene is SO much more diverse and engaging than just X Japan
My biggest disappointment was their comparisons with the Visual Kei scene. Visual Kei is an image, not a music style. It's not metal. So of COURSE you won't have metal fans at Visual Kei concerts and vice versa. There are Visual Kei metal bands of course, like LOUDNESS, thrash, death metal etc etc... but there's also rock, soft rock, pop rock, baroque metal, and on and on and on. You can't try compare the two, because it's like comparing apples to fruit.

I just found out about Global Metal and have yet to see it but, I'm surprised to notice that LOUDNESS is not mentioned. I remember hearing some of their music back in the late 80's and that's about it but the guys i hung out with who had their album told me they were it for Japanese metal and noticing that being mentioned in Hit Parade magazine.

"All year long you have been calling him Bob, his name's not Bob, it's Bob, "Bo." ,"Bo"!
