Did he just drop dead for unknown reasons or what? I might have missed something, I had a hard time focusing on this movie. Thanks.
shareThe dog had a heart condition. Remember when Henry was running with the dog and smoking a J and ran into Kate. He told her that the vet thought the dog might have a heart attack.
Henry carried him from room to room at one point also.
Either that or he ate a Christmas in Viet Nam roache.
I think he was just old. He definitely seemed to age and go downhill as the film progressed.
shareThe cord to the radio was all chewed up. Dog died of electric shock. I almost lost a puppy years ago to the same fate. It happens more often than you'd think.
shareWouldn't the ending have been better- to us dog lovers anyway -just before he gets into bed he visits an animal shelter and adopts a new one.

I somehow got the impression that the dog died of neglect. I hadn't remembered about the heart condition or the radio cord until reading this thread, but that's still neglect because a responsible pet owner would take better notice of his dog's status. I mean the shrink was wallowing around in this pot-laced cloud of grief and despair. Christ, he couldn't even find a razor to save his life! Anyway, poor doggie! I had actually sympathized with the Spacey character until this scene.

shareI think the puppy saw no way out of this simply stupid movie, being under contract and all, so he killed himself to stop the pain. I can dig it. This movie had no point - at least August's death made me feel something
