Does anyone think this plot sounds like a modern-day Othello? Maybe a little bit?

Actually, that was my first instinct! How weird... Now thinking about it a little more, it's probably different, but I did think about that!!
Othello came to mind for me, too! Although the movie would probably have the happy hollywood ending... Or at least, a less extreme one.
