Extremely obnoxious main character

I thought it was weird how Tommy was the main character in the movie, but Daniel and Beth were the only likeable characters in the movie. I honestly cannot think of one redeeming quality about Tommy. He was a truly selfish, deceitful, despicable person.

Despite all this, I was still able to enjoy the film. Alexis Bledel and Bryan Greenberg were adorable, and I liked how the movie wasn't your typical romance. It wasn't the most original movie, but at least it tried to be.

You really missed that whole thing about Pride and Prejudice didn't you? They repeated it several times about not being able to trust the narrator and how people aren't what they seem.

While I can kind of see where you're coming from in terms of P&P, I think all the "The Good Soldier" references gave the warnings about not being able to trust the narrator. Beth and Daniel even talk about it on the phone. P&P is there because Beth reminds Daniel of Elizabeth Bennet.

Those flowers were supposed to say ‘We love you, we’re sorry,’ not ‘You’re dead, let’s disco.’
