Abysmal. Who agrees that this is BBC 3's worst offering to date?

I've just forced myself to finish watching this big steaming pile. BBC
3 comedy has been going downhill for some time now but I think this is
it's lowest yet.

Not one "sketch" managed to make me laugh or even suppress my cringing.

I smiled once when the boyfriend said "See, I told you it was embarassing!", but then the humour was kind of impacted by the viking. Same with the rest of the show. The sketches weren't funny enough, and the CGI wasn't good enough. (I wasn't expecting Jurassic Park, but it was pretty poor visually.)

I do like the idea of mixing comedy with unusual CGI situations. I think I may have to stick with The Mighty Boosh, Big Train and The League of Gentlemen if I want decent strange comedy, though.

I quite liked it. As with many sketch shows, certainly in their first incarnation, the sketches are hit and miss. I think this one will become stronger. It's a lot better than Titty Bang Bang.

same here, i actually laughed thinking it was a bit of more mature humour then got pissed off when i saw the viking, it's like some writer let his kids in his office and they ruined his work

"it's like some writer let his kids in his office and they ruined his work"

Well said! I think this same phenomenon plagues the vast majority of the sketches in this show; they have potential that is then ruined by developing them in wrong direction and reducing them down to unsophisticated, juvenile, surreal situation comedy. It is like some compulsion that feels good and right at the time but stupid in retrospective. That's how I would describe the overall impression this show has made on me so far (three episodes into the first season).

reply

agreed... not funny and predictable

reply

You're all crazy. This show was lame but it's not even close to being as bad as shows such as Titty Bang Bang.

Really? Worst film you ever saw? Well, my next one will be better. Hello? Hello?

reply

When Neil Fox is the funniest thing about your show, maybe its time to cancel any plans of a second series...

reply

i think it was equally bad. both were horrible.

this is a great show! The way they use CGI in the comedy sketches it's great and is the only show to over this type of entertainment, some people may correct me at this but the one show that the wrong door seems to be inspiried from is Monty Python's flying circus, that too had the same sort of random sketches.

Give the show a chance, we've only seen at the most two episodes (the second can be viewed on the internet). All you've done is watched one episode and bitched about it. Seriously remember torchwood? same happened there, it was rubbish and now it's been turned into a decent show, maybe the BBC3 will realise the mistakes their making and make something out of what your claiming is a big steaming pile.

Also Titty Titty Bang Bang is the lowest BBC3 have gone. When your show's at that standard of entartainment there's really no saving it....

"does to science what a lit fuse does to dynamite!!!"

Personally I think the show's overall premise is fantastic, I just don't think it's been executed that well.

I think it's fairly fair to judge a sketch show by it's first episode though. If anything, the first episode tends to be the strongest of a sketch show because the ideas haven't had a chance to get worn out yet. It's not like a sitcom where they need time to develop things and set them up for later.

Really? Worst film you ever saw? Well, my next one will be better. Hello? Hello?

'Random'? Throwing nonsequitur 'jokes' around Monty Python does not make. Honestly I find the comparison insulting, especially to a show like The Wrong Door which managed to make even the cleverer (not saying much) sketches in an episode tired by the time 30 minutes was up.

Just FYI, MPFC never had two separate, unqualified piss jokes in the space of about 60 seconds. The Wrong Door is a turd filled with needless CGI and very few jokes.

reply

totally agreed.

I'm quite enjoying it, some of the sketches are a bit rubbish, but I found The World's most annoying creature, the Ikea spoof and Philip the dinosaur fairly funny.

reply

Once again we have a British show with a great idea and truly great performers, but let down with writng. In a sketch show with such a large cast and writing crew, not every sketch is going to hit the mark. However, you would hope that some-one would have some quality control, rather than an, "enough mud at the wall", approach.

reply

agreed. also i have the impression that this is aimed at the easiest-to-please kinda crowd. horrible.

reply

Considering it reminds me of an awful children's sketch show with a few piss, *beep* and masturbation jokes thrown in I'd say you're right.

god im glad everybody hates this pile of sh!t.

reply

awful show. it's like a GCSE media studies project.
the effects are actually pretty good. but the content is sooooo bad

reply

I couldn't disagree more. Try finding your sence of humour, then you'll find it funny. It was hillarious, i cant believe you'd be so foolish as to deride it, so many original ideas, well executed, certainly funnier then 2 pints, and a better use of the license fee then Eastenders!

reply

yes, if you mean that kind of humour that considers people stepping into *beep* or young children falling from a slide, then this might be actually funny, but if once you exceed the brain state of a 4 year old then this is only disgusting.

reply

They're showing this across the Pond now and it reeks of sour creme and failure. Dreck!

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.
