SHOCKINGLY BAD!

Not only was this extremely UN-funny, I thought it was also pretty grotesque and offensive in most places. I just did not get it, i really didnt. I wish someone would enlighten me as to where the humour lies in this abismal programme. Worst sketch show I have seen to date. I was disgusted at how bad it is, I only hope that the creators of this pile of crap know how badly it has been recieved and that BBC3 scrap it as soon as. Utter sh*te.

yep, "grotesque and offensive" suits it pretty well. i personally have one hell o a black humor, but i found most of the sketches "disgusting" on different levels.

reply

The latest episode was better. I agree in general though. The latest episode only really had one part where it went too far, and the first few sketches were good... It's a pitty they think they need the offensive/rudeness - I've never found it funny, and it narrows the audience. I'd never show it to my parents for example!

reply

Were it not for offence and rudeness, great comics like Peter Cook, Chris Morris, Dudley Moore, Chris Rock, Richard Pryor etc would never have been able to shape the way comedy is.

Granted this sketch show may not be for everyone, but censorship is not the way.

reply

i think you did not understand what i and the other posters meant.

as i already mentioned, i have a very black humour. my faves are chris rock, richard pryor, doug stanhope, paul mooney, lewis black, george carlin, louis CK, david cross, sam kinison ... etc so it won't get any more offensive than that. BUT there is a difference between "potentially offensive" and "grotesque and tasteless". take the "most annoying thing in the world" sketch for example. that was plain and simple "sadistic". what was funny in there? there is nothing wrong with toilet humour either, but there has to be a point to it. a simple statement like "i just *beep* my pants" is not funny, you gotta put it in context.

reply

Oh well, Iratasan, horses for courses I guess. However you would have to give a universally accepted definition of what is grotesque and tasteless, similarly how sadism is depicted in art and culture, before being able to make a concise judgement. I have no doubt that you find this show so, but others may not. I also have no doubt that you have strong, intelligent and well formed views on the show, but again, censorship is never the answer.

reply

I don't agree that it's "disgusting", but then I have seen many of the more disturbing horror films, and watch South Park and The League of Gentlemen regularly, so that probably makes my comment invalid. However, I do agree that some of the more crude sketches should have been rethought. The Smutty Alien sketch was pretty pointless (less-than-subtle innuendo for innuendo's sake made it seem incredibly juvenile), and the naked soldiers sketch was pretty stupid, too.

reply

censorship?

reply

Within this thread, there are those asking for the show to be scrapped and for some sketches to be re-thought down the their perceived tastlesness or grotesqueness.

While not a heavy handed "director general" type figure, dictating what should and should not be seen, this is a type of knee jerk reaction. I am thankful that the BBC has given a platform for something other than safe comedies that satisfy everyone. Thank goodness that there is still comedy out there that is allowed to test boundaries of taste and dare to offend.

reply

if you would be talking about something even remotely clever but yet completely offensive, like "drawn together" for example then i could agree, but putting your answer in context with this show i find that quite absurd. anyway, BBC are losing money on this one, so i guess we won't see more episodes than are already finished, maybe we won't even see all of those before the show gets cancelled. it is not offensive, it is grotesque and absurd. this show to me is equal to showing a guy sh*itting on the toilet for 45 minutes on live tv, maybe even less valuable.

reply

Yes, this show is Fuc%^ng awful! I've wasted nearly 20 minutes of my life on this five generation-old garbage. It is Sh*t.
