Being taken hostage by demons and the end of the world would be normally scary. This is played for laughs.

It is horror comedy. So, yes. It could also be considered comedy even if it is not funny.

Yes, it is part of the hybrid subgenre Horror/Comedy like Army of Darkness, Dead Alive, Return of the Living Dead, Killer Klowns From Outer Space, and a ton of others.
