About the worm/demon

The whole ending thing, combined with the invisibility and the zombie aspect was a bit confusing. If the demon is the worm, how come the original girl is still invisible in the light, when the worm has left her? How come she doesn't turn into a zombie, but not Angela?

I have a theory that maybe this will happen to Angela as well (that she becomes a zombie and becomes invisible in the light), but it takes time, it doesn't happen immediately.

Sounds like an interesting theory.

That seems likely since the little girl originally was a normal little girl and even when they took her she was normal just exhibiting possession. I'm guessing it was after years of dealing with this or maybe even the years alone in the dark that did the whole invisible thing to her. Although Tristana was not a zombie she was emaciated and blind but overall nothing like the other people.

When the medeiros girl attacked Ángela and Pablo, she was 17 years old. She was possessed when she was 13, taken the the penthouse of that building in Bacelona when she was 14 and kept there. he'd come and feed her body parts until she escaped.

When are we told that the demon-possessed person is invisible?

We are told that the demon's prison is invisible in normal light. But that doesn't necessarily mean that the demon or demon-possessed also is invisible.

Both times that we have encountered the Madeiros girl, the camera lamps have been broken, so we have been limited to watching her through night vision. That is a plot twist. But that doesn't necessarily mean that she was ever invisible.

And so, there is no reason to expect that Angela should become invisible, either.

"How come she doesn't turn into a zombie, but not Angela?"

Did you mean to ask why DOES Madeiros turn into a zombie, but not Angela?

There are two different phenomena going on here: 1) possession, and 2) infection/zombification. They are related, but still separate, issues.

Madeiros was not initially infected years before. She was only possessed. So we should not expect Angela to automatically become infected, either--only possessed. (Plus, Manuela is just so sexy, there is no reason to spoil that with undead makeup!)

Over time, the priest locks her away and experiments on her in the apartment attic. Once he decided that she needed to die, he might not have immediately had the courage to kill her. Perhaps instead he only tried to starve the human body host?

Not wanting to be dispatched so easily, the demon might have then made Madeiros bite and infect herself, thereby turning her into a zombie, as well as being possessed. That way, she could wait the priest out.

This then forced him to have to try to actively kill her, which did not work out so well for him. She seems to have a thing against Catholic priests... ;)

So for now, Angela only appears to be possessed, and not yet a zombie.

She plotted how to get out of the apartment so that she could use her normal appearance to move about freely in the outside world. She would not have wanted to zombify herself, if she could at all avoid it.

That said, that demon-slug thing looked slimy to me, so it had to have been covered in Madeiros's saliva. It should infect/zombify Angela in time.
