WTF was wrong with the priest?

He kept crying on how he needed the blood from the Medeiros "girl", after Angela blew its head off there was lots of *beep* blood on the floor, why was he still bitching?

reply

Only blood from living body will work, because it's possessed blood. Once you kill the host = it's a normal blood again.

reply

Oh I see, must have missed it along the english subtitles. Thanks.

@ OP lol, i kinda wondered the same thing too but now that makes sense. I need to go rewatch that movie now !

I SPEAK Spanish...and don't recall hearing the "rule" about needing a living body & all that mess. Then again, they spoke to flippin' FAST its hard to understand sometimes...was it when the little girl was attempted to be held down by the swat member (then eventuall shot)???? Other then that scene, I don't recall when this "rule" was spoken of.

That priest WAS annoying...him and his "the mission needs to be completed" bull!

^^^the mission did need to be completed, otherwise the problem could easily spread and get really out of hand (like [REC]3). I think he had every right to get the job and push people around. he's trying to help.

and the blood thing seemed pretty self explanitory to me. this is not a zombie outbreak. it's demons, spiritual possession etc. I assumed the priest knows the score and he knew that killing the host would render the blood useless. why do some people find this so hard to accept??

I completely agree with you.

At no point in the entire movie was this mentioned.

You can make that assumption, and it's not a bad one, but it's not fact.

If blood taken from a living host and kept in a test tube can have the necessary evil, then blood pouring out of the just dead host is very likely to work too.

Anyway the whole ending didn't make sense. With the different dimension they enter when they turn off all the lights, etc.

Nobody ever said the blood had to come from the LIVING. But wouldn't the blood have disappeared when the light came back on?

reply

It was explained in the film that the demon was condemned to live in darkness. The demons' blood wasn't. The demon itself was. You could probably have taken a hair sample back as well...

Same here, I was pretty confused by that. Glad it's cleared up.

I must've missed that but that does make sense.

I thought the priest was the coolest character, I mean he even used a freaking shotgun to kill someone. His need to complete the mission at all cost made him more elite I guess, kind of like a Vatican Special forces soldier lol.

Aside from Angela & the Cameraman, I thought the Priest was the coolest character. He was great!

A reminder (from another thread) to those bitching on this thread:

Jennifer's dog from REC was probably the first to "eat" the worm.

In the 1st movie, the tape recording reveals that the enzyme had been isolated, but it mutates, and deteriorates when it comes into contact with oxygen.

The priest sure thought the blood that was left in the test tube was okay, and it had been exposed to oxygen. He uncorked it to pour some out for his flambé, thus letting the air in.

I have a theory. Maybe the priest's real mission wasn't just to get Madeiros's blood. Maybe it was to get Madeiros, and thus the demon inside her. Perhaps he hoped to partially sedate her and move her out of there, so the experiments could be conducted elsewhere besides the apartment?

Blowing her head off would make transporting her kinda difficult. Her body would have to be dragged out of there past all the angry zombies. And that likely made him snap at Angela.

I only suggest that because he clearly wasn't telling people the whole truth about a lot of stuff.
