Presto: Much Better Than WALL E

I would love a feature-length treatment of "Presto." The battle between the stuffy magician and his rabbit nemesis had more laughs, livelier characters and a more engaging story in five or so minutes than WALL E had in its entire length. Was there any character in WALL E that had anywhere near their personality? Nope. "Presto" reminded me of the best Looney Tunes animation from the 40s and 50s. The slapstick was funny, fast paced and clever. WALL E was nothing but flashy effects, a lot of brightly colored objects darting around. Disney/Pixar failed to give us just two little things in WALL E - a story and characters. Give me "Presto: The Movie" instead!

Presto is a bag of potato chips, whereas Wall-e is a steak.

Little effort is used to open the bag and PRESTO! You have a delicious snack that tickles your taste buds. It's over quickly, and you can go to the store to get enough bag anytime you want.

Steak, the more expensive of the two, takes careful preparation, and a decent amount of time and skill to cook. When you taste it, you know you're having something rich, meaty, satisfying and spectacular.

Sure, there are plenty of vegetarians out there, who'll hate steak.
And there's lazy people, who don't want to put the effort in to making a steak.
And There are those hasty people who just don't feel like such an involved food, and just want their hunger met.

Moral of the story is: I like both potato chips and steak.

That, my good man, is an excellent analogy for the relationship between Presto and WALL-E.

Presto was only better in the aspect of humor. Otherwise, WALLE Owns.

There was a similar argument on IMDb over whether Lifted was better than Ratatouille.

As I said Lifted and Presto are one-joke short cartoons, whereas Ratatouille and WALL-E are full length films with multi-layered plots.

I think Lifted is better than Presto.

They are better, because they were short, indeed. If Presto would make it into a full length movie, imagine a magician trying to capture the rabbit for 2 hours...YAWN...

IT's like people saying there wasn't enough action in a film. But really-if you make a movie that's wall-to-wall action...it gets boring really fast.

Presto is paced like a Chuck Jones cartoon, and much of Chuck's brilliance came from putting so much into so little time onscreen.

I mean, imagine someone saying they wanted to see 'Duck Amuck' or 'What's Opera, Doc?' in a full-length feature...it'd never do what that 5-7 minutes of the original cartoon did.

Hey, come on.
Presto is just a nice relaxing short-film before the movie.
WALL-E is the real masterpiece in which everything is excellent, not just the effect, though you have to try to understand what the movie is really meaning and conveying.

Anyway, I love both of them.
Pixar is brilliant.
