Harrison Ford's second Oscar nomination?

Harrison Ford hasn't had a good, juicy dramatic role since the Mosquito Coast and Witness; maybe even Regarding Henry. The Academy eats that up. Maybe as best supporting actor? Anybody else agree?

Well, we haven't seen the movie yet so no way to tell. But I doubt it is an Oscar material, otherwise, they would not have open it in April. Too early for an Oscar nomination. Having said that, I do wish luck to both Harrison and Brendan. They are my favorite actors, hopefully, they both get critical claim for it.

Unfortunately it carries a January release date, so there's no chance unless he dies (in real life) and even then its not really a big chance.

God, I wish. Ford has been terribly overlooked in the academy. It seems he was a strong enough actor to break away from Han Solo with Indiana Jones and even strong enough to break away from Indiana Jones with Jack Ryan and to a greater extent Richard Kimble in the Fugitive (one of his finest)
but the academy seems to think Ford isn't a great actor.

I am of the believe that Harrison Ford is one of the greatest actors who ever lived and its a shame he doesn't get meaty roles anymore and when he does, they are tied to mediocre movies like Crossing Over.

Animation is viagra for art

LoL as Peter Griffin once said, Ford is "the only actor whose career isn't destroyed by [Star Wars]".

This looks pretty good. I think this will be like "Lorenzo's Oil", with a few Oscar nominations. Maybe a supporting actor nod for Ford and maybe something else depending on the quality of the movie.

funny, after I saw the trailer I came on this board to post the same exact thing. Though I do admit it's more wishful thinking then reality. Ford is deserving of such, and both him and fraser could use a hit..shame that crossing over was such a bomb, I actually thought it was a pretty good flick.

I haven't seen the movie yet but I have to say nothing would make me happier. However it is HIGHLY unlikely because the January release pretty much kills any chance of that. The Academy is notorious for its short memory which is why most Oscar nominess are fall releses. Sure there are exceptions: "Forrest Gump" came out in the summer of 1994 and "Braveheart" was a May of '95 release. And "Gladiator" was a May 2000 release. Then there was "The Silence of Lambs" was released in February of '91 and swept the Oscars the following year. But that was nineteen years ago so those kind of exceptions the rule are obviously few and far between.

So Harrison's performance and "Extraordinary Measures" as a film will most likely have to be pretty exceptional to be remembered next year. As I said nothing would make me happier and I suppose stranger things have happened but I really wouldn't count on it.
