Saw it last night...

This was a much better movie than the preview alluded it would be, so I was very nicely surprised. The story was a bit slow in parts, but it flowed well and the plot moved along and you never got lost. The story gives an inside look to an aspect of medicine technology and what it takes to get from the theory on paper to the medicine in reality. I was also not very aware of Pompe disease, similar to ALS in children and the lack of treatment.A good movie for the family also.

Harrison Ford's acting however was severely lacking and made me wish that if he is going to give such a half-hearted effort that he just wouldn't bother. I have loved him for a long time and he was ok in this, but he could have been great and wasn't. Brendan Fraser was ok, I hope he starts to make a venture back into serious roles. He was really good in Gods and Monsters and a few others and hasn't had a chance in recent movies to showcase his talent.

I enjoyed the movie overall and thought it was worth a watch.

Both are known for action roles. But hopefully since Brandon is getting a little older, he will do more dramatic roles. As this could be a start for him.

the race for the cure was a good story. but they also needed cure the fear harrison ford's character had of phones too.

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

A good family movie? Hardly. Despite the rating (which should have been at least PG-13), this is adult material and not something for kids. Even if you don't agree with the thematic material, there's also objectionable language that unsuitable for kids.

We're going to have disagree, I'm afraid, on whether this is appropriate for families.

This is the best performance of Brendan Fraser's career by far.

Very believable.
Very realistic.

Great movie.
I rate it 10/10.

It's so not what people think. It's not some sad story about a family trying to cope under difficult circumstances.

There is sadness in it, but it's mostly about one man's drive to beat the odds while having to overcome several obstacles along the way...

The way Erin Brockovich was driven, John Crowley is driven. Just the reasons are different. Erin wanted to bust a careless company. John wanted to save his kids.

Objectively-speaking, I think it's a comparable film to Erin Brockovich. Read all of the viewer reviews over at MovieTickets.com. 93% positive. The people who've actually seen 'Extraordinary Measures,' like it.

I saw the premiere and really enjoyed it. I don't think the acting was 'ok' as some have commented. I found it believable enough to get you through the film. I'm not a critic in the least. Harrison Ford was great, I thought. And Brendan Fraser, I believe he portrayed his part very well. He broke my heart at some parts of the film.

I would like to see it again and take my kids to see it.

The acting was very believable.

It was the most believable acting I've seen in a long time.

I don't know what Fraser could have done differently. He was spot-on. He was exactly as you would expect a good, intelligent, responsible father to be under those circumstances

I agree, this was a terrific job by Fraser. He had all the emotions I would expect and took us along for this ride as Crowley. My heart went out to him and Keri Russell. What a challenge it must have been to have two children on the verge of dying. Brendan was most believeable. I thought it was a good movie!

Fraser is a likable enough actor in many of his past roles, but he looked and acted very wooden, much like Al Gore. I had no empathy for this Al Gore personification and I really did not care about his story. I hope he gets more comedic roles which are more suited to his abilities. None of the adult characters had any likability and I really wanted to like them. The family and friends of Pompe children and the children themselves are heroic and I am glad there is hope for them. It is a story that needed to be told, I just did not form that bond with anyone in the film.

I agree. And when Brendan Fraser had to get emotional, it looked fake and hollow most of the time. I knew he wasn't the greatest actor on the planet, but I was shocked by how horrible he was. This movie would have been more touching and exciting with another actor and a better director.

I don't see how people can say Brendan Fraser was great in this movie, but millions of people do things like smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol until they puke, so you can't count on the good judgment of others. They seem to be trapped in a state of perpetual error.

I just finished watching this with my family, we all enjoyed it immensely. The movie's story and message was so profound.

Everyone has their own opinion, by the way, so some people may have liked it, while some may have not.

I do not think it was a great movie but it was a good one. It is a very good drama. I think Fraser and Ford were excellent in this film. I could see Ford playing this kind of role as a loonie tune with a brain and he did fine.

The film is nothing special, but it's ok.
The good thing is that H.Ford, as the executive producer, is obviously avare of the necessity of changing his typical cast.
The landscape around Portland looks beautiful.
The first time he appeared, Ford hadn't looked convinsing, but afterwards he did. He could be smart.
Eric Clapton, a good song.

Brendan Fraser also looks like he gained an extra 100lbs for this movie
