So it's a genetic condition

And these stupid *beep* have three children? Really?

The first one was healthy, fine. The second one has this genetic condition, unlucky. Then knowing this is genetic you roll the dice for a third kid?

These morons are everything that's wrong with the world.

You're an ass - they had their 3rd child before their 2nd child was diagnosed.... and even if they had known, there's still just a 1 in 4 chance that another one of their children would have Pompe. Your insinuation that parents who procreate children with genetic disorders are "morons" and everything that's wrong with the world is insulting - I think you've got it backwards....

Okay had you of left it 10 or 15 words in I'd of just shrugged my shoulders and left this alone because the film was like some made for TV hallmark movie that I drifted in and out of whilst working so it's entirely possible that I missed the numbers.

But you continued...

Just a one in four chance?

If you were told that the next glass of water you were going to drink had a one in four chance of killing you you'd never drink another glass of water again. If you were told the next TV you were going to turn on has a one in four chance of blinding you theres no way you'd turn on another TV.

Yet it's acceptable odds when bringing a life into existance? A life that will be incredibly hard that you wouldn't want to live yourself and for what?

That's the real question here, why? What is the point? To leave an heir to your two bedroom apartment and Ford focus? To pass on a name that will probably die out, or change or be lost to time in the future?

There was no insinuation in my comment, it was a clear statement which I hold to and was meant to be insulting.

Read it again - they did NOT know their 2nd child had Pompe before they had their 3rd. Once the parents knew they were Pompe carriers they did not have any more children.

reply

Do you know for a fact that it was the reason they stopped having children?

There's a big difference between putting your own life at risk and having a child who might not be perfectly healthy. That poison water wasn't a good example to use.

Even people who are not perfectly healthy can live happy lives, affect others in positive ways and be productive members of society. Maybe not all, but many.

You really need to see 'Follow The Stars Home'. It is a very touching movie from Hallmark. I believe you can find it on YouTube.
Every life created deserves the chance to live their life whether they are perfectly healthy or not.
Just because Megan and Patrick had their medical problems, it doesn't mean they'd wish they'd never been born.
