They will wait until he is ninety years old and they have to push him out on the stage in a wheelchair to give him a Lifetime Achievement Award like every other actor/actress they did not acknowledge when they should have. Then they will give him thirty seconds to speak and the orchestra will start playing.

The man has to die before people realize what a great actor he is.

 He was awful in this. If you knew what you were talking about you'd realize this. Ignore the story and his character, and focus on his mannerisms. He comes off as stiff, unnatural, and amateurish. It's down right laughable. When he had the line, "Seize the day" or says "thank you" to the doctor in her office....ugh, it's like watching a bad high school play. If he thinks those choices help make him believable or dramatic or whatever, he needs to go back to acting school. It's very obvious.

He just looks like a guy waiting for his cues to deliver the expected facial reaction, and those expressions are more like impersonations of other actors, than genuine emotions, which he deliberately and poorly transitions to for each line.

Oh, this line is supposed to be stoic and serious, let me use this genetic cliched tone and expression, and here is a sympathetic line, I'll use the tried and true cliched look for that too.

Give me a break. You should be able to notice the damn difference when he's standing next to Ford or even Jared Harris. People who can immerse themselves in their roles. When he gets woken up, that's a prime example. Oh you woke me! I'm confused for a split second. Two seconds later, forget that, and display the grateful, thankful look for the next line.
