2 things I would REALLY like to figure out!!

1. When the girl's alarm went off in the morning it was like 6:18am. Yet the stepfather is at a bar, which is somehow packed with people, socializing, drinking and playing pool. Is this common in America at this hour of the morning??

2. How the heck did the stepfather get that huge cage into the house, drill the nails into the attic and then into the front and back doors, all without the girl even hearing him??

reply

1. Yes, if there's a hurricane outside and the bar is a safe place to stay.

2. He did not take the cage inside the house, he only pulled it in front of the main door and openned it, so the tiger would directly go through. I guess that the screws in the attic door were placed long before, when the stepfather planned everything and thought of the ways they could use to escape/hide. Regarding the doors, they were all drilled by the workers because of the hurricane. They probably only left one open door (that makes sense if someone was going to stay inside). But you're right, from what you see when the stepfather lets the tiger inside the house, he secures the door using the chain, he doesn't secure it with screws. He might have done it afterwards, having care, but it also might be a (small) plothole.

1. I noticed the same thing. Bars are never open at 7 am, let alone be packed with people. I suppose during the hurricane there may be people there seeking shelter, but they wouldn't be drinking and shooting pool. Also, why the heck was the sheriff there at bar? Shouldn't he be out helping hurricane victims. The fact that the stepfather was in a crowded bar at 7 am was definitely an unrealistic blemish on this film.

2. I think all the drilling was done beforehand, except for the front door. He could drill some screws in and only take a few seconds, and it's possible that Kelly would sleep thru it all

I initially thought that, too, but then came to the conclusion that the clock wasn't 24, and must have meant six in the evening...
