Was Emma Stone less believable...

as an Asian or a military officer to you? I'd say the latter.

You did just fine, Clarence. Now go get yo'self some hot cornbread!

I love Emma but at 26, I could no more buy her as a USAF Senior Pilot (min 2000 hours flight time) than I could Will Smith as a USMC Captain in Independence Day.

reply

Amen!

reply

If you look at videos of F22/ F35 the pilots most of them look over 30 some over 40.

I just thought that it was stupid to make such a young person a F22 Pilot, F16 or A10, would make much more sense, she look like someone who just graduate Air Force flight school.

thank god she wasn't cast as a F35 pilot, that Plane is still a $1.5 Trillion disaster, with so much bugs and problems

reply

I wasn't even referring to that so much as her character's demeanor. She behaved nothing like a military officer in any setting.

Agreed....

From her introduction to Cooper and McAdam's showing complete disrespect to the remains being returned(turning and staring at your ex vs showing respect to the fallen and their family? Always a great choice), I turned it off at that point and I can usually sit through any movie(a curse of insomnia LOL)

reply

Wait. Will Smith was unbelievable or unconvincing to you in Independence Day?

reply

Will Smith has been unbelievable in anything he's done, except for that first gig in "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air".

reply

Emma was just too perky and wide-eyed for the first half of the movie, the acting was just not believable in any way shape or form, and i really don't think she herself believed that she was pulling her role off.

reply

I agree. She seemed to be in disbelief she was in the movie for awhile.

Crowes first huge stinker IMO.

Sums up most Cameron Crowe movies

reply

What? The acting in Jerry Maguire is wonderful. Zellweger gave one of her best performances in that movie.

reply

Exactly what I came here to say. I love Emma Stone, but she was terribly miscast in this movie. I see a lot of other people complained about the Asian part. My main concern was her playing a gung-ho air force captain. In every scene it was obvious that she was acting. She eased up a bit as the movie went on.

reply

So-oo miscast!
Not only did I not buy her as military I also couldn't go for the 1/4 Asian + 1/4 Hawaiian Islander ancestry.
Wrong wrong wrong

reply

Just watched this.....this movie was very bad and for me EMMA STONE was a bright spot.

She was the MVP of this pile of crap.

Don't care what her characters ethnic background was....which they brought up a few times in the movie.

Just a waste of so many good actors.

I normally really like Emma Stone, but she was seriously miscast in this.
