Why the low ratings?

I saw this on Independent Lens today, and though I had heard a lot of this information before, I found the movie really fascinating, it tied together a lot of disparate bits of information into something comprehensible.

So, just looking at the rating for it, why 5.8? And when I looked at the breakdown of votes, why did 14 percent of people rate it at a 1?

It wasn't a dull documentary really, so the only reason I can see for giving it a bad rating is that you disagreed with it's message, which is almost incomprehensible to me.

If our society has gotten so politically polarized that a personal could be against the health of earth's soil, we are living in strange times indeed.

This was very well done. It gave positive solutions as well as the problems Humans are causing. The end with the prisoners was uplifting seeing their expressions. Also the low recidivism rate through the Gardening program. Now it is up to us to spread the information to stop the destructive plans and to implement the solutions.

Can you fly this plane?
Surely you can't be serious.
I am serious,and don't call me Shirley

alacrates: The *only* new thing I learned from this tedious film is that cow dung is sterile. Which it isn't.

I think you're making a mistake in assuming that people who don't like this movie are against healthy dirt. In my opinion, this is basically a contentless movie by/for hippies, and duller than watching mud dry.
