SPOILER! Is it possible to write that cheque?

Is it possible to just write and sign a 744 million pounds cheque? I mean, isn't there a limit to the amount of money it can be used for? Or wasn't it a cheque and someone could explain me?
Anyway, amazing movie! I found it interesting and pretty ironic, whit a good twist, I honestly didn't thought Frank could have been Pearce. Even if I noticed the fact that they used her voice to read the letter at the beginning (strange for a movie) and his ability in action.

the last time I tried to cash a check for 744 million pounds the teller gave me SUCH a hard time ...

Maybe it's not so much about the amount on the cheque, as about the little numbers at the bottom that tell the police which bank account to seize. There's probably exactly 744 million pounds in the account.
