I think the vitriol over this film is largely a consequence of people getting good and tired of Johnny Depp (FINALLY!). But in its way it's no worse than any similar international intrigue/spy/heist movie. The only serious problem imo is the way Depp seems to think the only way to play an action scene is buffoonish. He thinks every film he does is a comedy, even when it's entirely inappropriate.

But really, despite plot issues and so forth, how is this any worse than Charade, The Bourne Identity, Knight and Day, any Bond movie, etc.? They're all silly entertainments centred around exotic locations and some kind of mcguffin that draws competing armed factions in as antagonists. Not much to choose one from the next.

Um no, they hated it because they thought it was bad But of course a hater would make it seem like that. He was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance and the movie made $278m at the box office, is that a sign of people getting "good and tired" of him? Right after this movie 2 of his movies opened at #1 in the box office and made lots of money and one of them made a billion dollar, Is that because they got "good and tired" of him? I guess so!

Wow so you are living in his mind? Do you know what he is thinking right now? The comedy was needed in this film and it made it better.

Good critique. I think many film fans are getting more and more fed up with the fake, rigged and CGI-created violence and explosions in films these days.

But for humour on fights etc., no-one can beat Roger Moore in the "Persuaders" (TV series with Tony Curtis) and later as "James Bond".

Cock that eyebrow, Roger!
