Unforgiveable

Considering the writing and directing talent involved, and a presumably big budget, this is a very poor movie. It never appealed to me on release and I'd put off seeing it until it was on TV yesterday, and I thought I'd give it a try as a piece of mindless entertainment.

Acting, music, story, dialogue, everything is wrong. There were several films like this in the 60's and, when I was a young lad, I found them enjoyable. I'm sure if I watched Charade now, I would enjoy it and take into account when it was made. But here we have a similar film 50 years on with no attempt to update things to make it more palatable to today's audiences. Had it been an affectionate pastiche, fair enough. However it seems to be seriously seeking to emulate those earlier, better films, and for what purpose exactly?

I'm amazed that the director chose this as his next project after The Lives Of Others. McQuarrie and Fellowes have a decent body of work behind them, so what went wrong? I'd rather watch any number of no-budget horror flicks than rubbish like this.

Yes , I've just finished watching , everything is wrong in this movie . How did two big stars approve to act in this terrible movie ? I like them both but this is really bad !

Horrible .... just horrible ...

Actually, I went with the amiable pastiche theory. There was enough tongue-in-cheek humor in it to convince me this was not a serious film.
