100 million budget? Spent on what?

For the life of me I can't see where they spent a supposed 100 million. Stars wages surely weren't that high?

Pretty shoddy predictable film

AJ's costumes and jewelry was probably a good chunk of that, plus filming in Venice. Angelina's jewelry was privided by her personal jeweller, who was the former CEO of Asprey.

I came here to ask the very same question after seeing the budget on Wikipedia. Maybe they had to pay the mob in Venice.

Would they really have to use real jewelry? As if more than 0,01% of the audience could tell any difference.

Most of it prolly were used on star wages after all. I can't for the life of me phantom why Johnny Depp would star in this role if he didn't get a silly amount of money for it. Same thing with Angelina probably, though she haven't as much to prove as Johnny.

Remember to always be yourself... Unless you suck!

yeah 100 million on a film like this should be considered criminal. I dare say this could have easily been done for a fraction of the price. Seriously HUNDRED *beep* MILLION DOLLARS?????

reply

Seems a bit much.

Stars: 2 x $15 million
Co-stars: 2x $1.5 million
Rest of cast: $1 million

Location rentals. Expensive. But probably no more than $5 million.

Costumes, makeup: cheap
CGI: cheap
Stunts: cheap
Blowing stuff up: maybe a million.
Crew -- unionized and cashing in on overtime: maybe $10 million

We're at about $50 million.

Honorarium for Venice? Who knows?
Product placement? They should have cashed in on this big time.
That leaves catering. If you've ever been to Venice, a plate of spaghetti in the tourist area goes for about $30 and the whole meal with tip would be triple that. Caterers would charge about the same. Run the numbers and the expensive spaghetti probably explains most of the remaining $50 million.

Spock! Form an away team! You, me, Bones, Scotty and umm... Ensign Smith!

Hey! Did you forget the Director's salary? Although not so famous, yet with that long and impossible surname, of Noble German origins indeed, he must have asked for a biiiiig paycheck for sure.
Could be not so big as the one shown in the movie, but big, huge. 😃

Then add the truly expensive Italian System in general 😎 (I'm Italian, not anymore living there since many years), with Italian actors, Italian hidden expenses, Italian authorities and politicians to please, etc...
Yeah, $100 million is possible, plausible and... of course I agree with the others, totally shameful for a disgrace of movie like this one.

I came here to start a thread about this-you beat me to it. I guessed about 20 million dollars from the look of it. Maybe someone made a typo somewhere? 100 million is CRAZY!

reply

Depp & Jolie must've got $30M pay days.

reply

I think the $100 million is the "all in" budget - production (above and below line costs) plus promotion. Because there sure isn't $100 million on the screen.

Well according to pro.boxoffice.com it isn't - they're calculating with additional $40 million to P&A alone, and a total budget at approx. $140 million.

- both Jolie and Depp have flunked bigtime in their latest movies. Wonder how long the studios will keep paying them the big salaries?
