Was Depp miscast?

First of all, I love Depp and his work but I think this movie wasn't for him. What do you think?

I don't think so. I'm not a fan of his Tim Burton movies, so it's one of the few I like. Plus I don't think he was the first, or even the second actor attached to the part.

Yes.

No, I think his character was just written really badly. Otherwise it would have worked and made the movie better as a whole. I thought it was a good movie, but something was missing. We know Depp is a good actor so that's not it; then it's obviously the writing and how they wanted him to portray the character.

no i think he could never be miscast - i actually enjoyed this movie; he and angie had great chem imo... but both of them can play any role handed to them and do it very well.

No, I think he was well cast - at the beginning when he's "Frank", then he looks sort of attractive but a bit bumbling and like the normal guy he's supposed to be. Later in the film, at the ball, he starts to look more suave and attractive and then at the end on the boat, where it's revealed he is the master criminal, he looks like the dashing Depp we're used to.

He reminded me of his character Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribean at certain parts throughout the film. Just the way he did certain gestures and especially when he was running across the rooftops during the chase scene. I couldn't help but laugh.

It's because it's the same human being.
