The Asian thing refers to how Nancy was dressed during her trial. Usually in trials, especially in murder trials, the accused person dresses differently than they would if they weren't in court. They would were nice, sometimes preppy clothes. It is done to make themselves look more innocent and normal to the jury.

when you watch the dateline coverage or if you read the story online, it explains it more clearly. The real nancy had bright blonde hair right up until the trial. She died it black like asian hair and ppl said that she looked very asian. People said that she did it b/c they were going against an asian jury and she wanted the jury to like her.
