Nancy's Abuse From Robert

Trutv.com && The Crime Library states that Robert sexually and physically abused her. I am a fan of the crime library and usually find them as a good sourse of infromation. I by NO MEANS have ANY sympathy for Nancy, but they didnt speak of it at all in the movie. Wierd, i just thought with lifetime putting so much advertisment in to this film, they would include a crucial (if at all even true) fact. What do you think?

They mentioned that Nancy's defense included being beaten and raped by Robert, but nobody believed her and they convicted her of murder. Was there actually evidence of abuse?

I dont think there was any evidence. If i were her I would make up just about anything as an excuse for killing him. I guess it comes down to her having no evidence and there being OVERWHELMING evidence that she killed him. lol She really sucked at planning that thing out, like her friend said. You would think with all that money and all the options that come with wealth, she would have thought it out better.

There was no evidence of him abusing her and nobody really believed it. None of us knows what goes on behind closed doors but I think she made it up. I think he was probably going to leave her because of her behaviour (affair et al.), she wasn't going to get a great settlement and she panicked because she was going to lose A LOT. The other explanation is that she wanted him out of the way - she seemed to have developed a wild side and he didn't fit into that lifestyle. However, she didn't want to lose the perks that came with being Mrs. Kissel. Being a Kissel widow is much more lucrative than being a divorcee and living with the TV repairman.

not mention she kept Robert body in oriental rug for days in their bedroom go on with life without care in the world he was dead and the rug.

Good point about the rug. But nonetheless, it seemed a little peculiar not to show her lawyer making some kind of a case (however laughable). In fact, a laughable closing argument would have at least been interesting not to mention entertaining.

stephanyjml, your right about her wild lifestyle. I think she always had one though. Remember one of the first scenes in the movie, she was talking about doing loads of coke and not remembering if she slept with a cjip n dales dancer.

good point about the coke at the beginning.. i had forgotten about that. I always like to think that ppl had turned on her and should`ve probably believed her more. I wonder if she passed a lie detector test.

I actually feel bad for nancy. I mean what she did was terribly wrong but you gotta wonder what drove her to it. Her husband seemed to be painted in such a positive light too. I mean no affairs or anything? Yeah right. I saw this story on an episode of Dateline and the movie was just like the story... except in real life, Nancy had blonde or light colored hair up until the trial...that was when she died it black.

reply

Feel bad for her? Based on what? The movie tells us what drove her to commit murder.

Clark's destiny = Superman, Lex Luthor & Lois Lane.

The old addage applies to Nancy.. "You can take the whore off the streets but you can't take the streets out of the whore." Nancy was nothing but a low life whore when she met and then married Robert. She got what she deserved and I hope she rots in that prison.
