Ending

I've been trying to make sense of the story told in S:CS and S:SoC.

In SoC you play as Strelok and eventaully make your way to Yantar, where you do some science for a scientist so he can give you the prototype Psi helmet.

In the prequel, your character follows Strelok during his fateful trip into Chernobyl where Strelok gets captured. This leads to the story wrap-up at the end of CS where we discover that your character is the reason Strelok got captured and set up the events told in SoC. So Clear Sky wraps up nicely and sets up SoC.

During Clear Sky, however, the scientist at Yantar tells you that he gave Strelok the protoype helmet. But later in SoC, we do measurements for the scientist so he could complete the helmet. So what's the deal? Did Strelok help complete the helmet twice, once in Clear Sky when being tailed by Scar, and once in SoC when played by the character?

You are Strelok, that's the twist.

You can read more about it here: http://stalker.wikia.com/wiki/Strelok

Development of Stalker:Online reminded me of this thread after a year :D

Sounds like you didn't even read my question. 1) I acknowledged that the player is Strelok, 2) that misses the point entirely.

The plots of the two games don't overlap (CS ends right before SOC begins), yet both games reference the same event (creating the Psi-device at Yantar). If that event didn't happen until Strelok did it in SOC, then how does Scar know about it in CS? Or if that event happened during the CS timeline, then when the player gets to Yantar in SOC, shouldn't the scientist say, "Hey, what'd you do with the last one I gave you, *beep*

I find it hard to believe that the storywriters would make such a mistake, which is why I wonder what it is I'm missing. I really want there to be something I'm not picking up on.
