Granite countertops

Why does almost every buyer have to have Granite countertops, Stainless Steel appliances, and large rooms? Why not get something functional and less expensive?

reply

Because it's the trend. There are always trends in decorating, art, fashion, film, etc.

And I'm afraid that like all trends do, and have, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances will be replaced by the coming trends, and the look will be as outdated and passé as the once hugely popular avocado shag carpet, and harvest gold appliances.

Because most people are mindless and just listen to others about what is cool. Its a marketing ploy to get people to continue update there house within a couple years they'll push the new "in thing". The ironic thing is I like granite counter tops not too kine on the fact they release radiation but I like natural elements in a house stone, wood, water, ext. Kind of like feng shui without the bs.

Not to mention both granite and marble are high maintenance. They have to be sealed yearly, one must be very careful when cooking because they stain, etc.

If you can't be a good example -- then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

I have to have a huge kitchen cuz I like to entertain. Ugh. Who are all these people who entertain? I certainly don't know them.

It's what all the realtors are pushing their clients to install so they can sell homes quickly these days. Oh, and in California, you'd better have white cabinets, too. It's the OC cliché.

Plus all these FAKE home renovations shows/ flipping homes/ push the granite, laminate flooring, 2 bathroom sinks, etc...and homeowners/home buyers start the" warm earth tone's" or the shabby chic talk and you know its all down hill from there.
