This WAS Dreadful.

By far the worst film ive seen in years. It says it all that the plot device driving this nonsense was the story told in video camera flashbacks! Oh and the leading guy was that soppy fool from Buffy TVS. Whatever happened to thora birch's acting ambitions?

Sometimes, you just have to pay the bills! LOL And sometimes, a film sounds better when it's sold to you than it actually ends up being in and after production.

I didn't think it was dreadful. I thought the script was. And the so called story, which really was a non story in reality, but I actually thought the girls did a great job with a bad script and made it okay for me. I just wished they'd have done a better job with the story, because it could have been good.

^ Yeah, doesn't sound that great, really. A bit like a wanly imagined cross b/t THE OTHERS and a female-centric SECRET WINDOW, no?

reply

I agree. Pretty bad for me too.

I agree, this movie was awful and unoriginal. totally ripped of Secret Window and a dozen other horror movies I've seen. Very disappointing. :(

The performances were pretty solid, other than that, the movie was pretty bad. It didn't have a story really and it was a rip off of many other films.

This is a story of boy meets girl. But you should know up front, this is not a love story.

The Changeling (1980) was a sleeper that changed horror movies (for the worse). Eventually everyone on earth discovered it and then began ripping it off. In it, a ghost gives a few scares, but then turns out to be leading the new house owner to the clues he needs to understand/solve its murder (See Dark Water, The Ring, Haunting in Connecticut, The Lovely Bones, A Stir of Echoes, the Devils Backbone, and ten thousand other, really terrible movies)

30 yrs later this is unacceptable as.sload of cliches.

YAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNN!

I seriously don't see how anyone could give this movie more than a 1/10. It was unbelievably cliched, predictable and just plain painful to get through the whole thing.

Although I did get a couple of good laughs at the sheer awfulness of it. But mostly it was just really, really, really bad.

I agree, I didn't even finish it. I turned it off shortly after Lucy was drowned in the bathtub. I love Brittany Murphy, and was seriously saddened by her death, and I am also a fan of Thora Birch (from Hocus Pocus) and Marc Blucas (from his role in BTVS). I went into this thinking that it would be a fun little horror flick, something psychologically scary, with some good actors. I honestly was so disappointed with this, when I turned it off, it was from the sheer disgust I felt of having wasted almost an hour of my life to this heap of garbage. The acting was bad from every actor, there wasn't just one that stood out as worse than the others, they all sucked terribly. Brittany Murphy was overacting, Marc Blucas was completely unconvincing as the jealous and overbearing love-sick hubby, and Thora Birch seemed to be in a completely different film with how detached her portrayal of Lucy was.

The only person that gave even a slightly convincing performance, was Alice's bff/gf, and she hardly had any screen time...but saying that, when she was on the phone with Alice, it truly sounded like she was just 'phoning it in'. Her voice was monotonous, she had no inflection in her voice, and she honestly didn't sound bothered by Alice's predicament in the slightest, considering Alice had recently gone through something terrible...you would think as her bff/gf that she would be a little more concerned by Alice's new-found predicament.

The story was completely predicdable, and I felt that after hearing Alice's bff/gf talk about how Alice's boyfriend had tried to drown her and she miscarried, and then seeing that that's exactly what happened to Lucy...I knew I didn't need to hang around just to get what I already knew spoon-fed down my throat. It wasn't until I got to the boards that I saw my conclusions were correct, and that I had managed to figure out the entire ending of the story after barely making it through half the film.

This was so bad, and normally I am very forgiving with low budget or B horror movies, but I just can't rate this film any higher than a two star. I'm sorry if others enjoyed it, but I just couldn't...it was simply that bad.

I love everyone. Yes, you. And the person sitting next to you, I love them too.
