My only problem...

I know this may sound ridiculous to some people. For the most part though, I thought this film was unique and well done, for what it's worth. But my only problem was...

The whole idea of Kevin committing a massacre with a bow and arrow. I don't know. That just doesn't sound realistic to me. He'd have to be such a good shot and have lightning fast reflexes. It would be a highly unusual massacre. I think it would've been more believable if Kevin used a gun. I know a lot of people who watch this film could probably care less about that detail. But it's something that I couldn't get over. Other than that though, the rest of the film was well done.

Wasn’t it a crossbow? It’s certainly a crossbow in the novel but I don’t recall the film so well.

It’s a long time since I read it but I think it’s more clearly explained in the book. Didn’t he lock all the doors so there was nowhere to escape? Even an average shot can cause a lot of damage, I’m sure, shooting wildly in a gymnasium filled with panicking students who have nowhere to run to.

I've never read the book. So I wouldn't know. I just thought the whole idea was a bit silly though. But then again...I guess anything is possible. Maybe Kevin was just that good.

I thought it was silly too. Actually, it ruined an otherwise excellent film for me. The massacre with a crossbow would be impossible, just because it takes a lot of time in between the shots. School shooters never choose shotguns for the same reason, because it would be relatively easy to disarm such a shooter. He may have killed like one or two people with a crossbow before somebody would have run to him, disarmed him and beat him to a pulp.

One does not need guns to kill people!

reply

Yeah, but a massacre with a bow and arrow doesn't sound that realistic.

Regardless...I still don't buy it.
