Good ol' bait and switch there.

But to answer your question, no. Buddy Boy, Murmurs of the Heart, etc... Plenty of mother/son relationships committed to film that are more abnormal.

The Good Son (1993).... definitely this one.

See now, I don't think of the Good Son as a mother/son issue. The kid was a "psychopath" from an early age. I don't think the mother messed him up.

Ma Mere (2004)

Spanking the monkey

Spanking the Monkey was a very intriguing film, despite the uncomfortable subject matter. I always thought Alberta Watson was a very talented and beautiful actress, sad she passed too soon.

Savage Grace, based on a true story.

Yeah.

Womb (2010). for sure!

The plot is quit interesting in Womb, perhaps more-so than in WNTTAK, which is your typical psychopath film we've seen many times but that's not to say it isn't well shot and well directed. Kevin is a good film but I would have to say I liked Womb more. Although, it may not be a 'mother/son' film per se, it's more of an odd take on the romance genre.

That being said, I would still give Kevin a 6.2 out of 10. It's interesting but not groundbreaking or anything like that, seen too many films about "bad kids" and whatnot. Of course, the subject matter is difficult to accept in Kevin. It's a hard film to watch because you just know it's not going to end well. haha...
