Did anyone else find it odd that...

Eva had the same car all those years? I'm not saying a 90s Mercedes-Benz is unreliable (one of the best cars ever built!), but they seemed to have a ton of money and I'm surprised she never upgraded to a newer one.

She liked her simple life. She didn't want to move out of her small city apartment and into that big house. Maybe she felt that holding on to her car meant keeping a piece of herself.

reply

That's a good point. She does actually say "I hate the house. I've always hated the house."

reply

She didn't want to leave NYC, it was all her dumbass husbands idea to buy a house

reply

Her husband was an idiot. What she should have done was protect her daughter and move out. Let the husband take care of the psychopath.

reply

I believe that's what she was planning on doing - leaving Kevin with his father, and take her daughter in the divorce.

But yeah I agree with someone else up thread - she kept the car to hold onto something she wanted.

reply

She spent all their money eyes on his legal defense or so it was strongly hinted at in the movie. She also lost her job.

Was that the job as the world traveler/author(before she met the husband) we see in the window display? I has missed that part and was wondering about the display.

I found it odd she stayed in the same town where everyone know her and she didnt get as far away as possible. Even if the son was close to town in jail, there was nothing else keeping her there.
