Just watched the second season

I had watched the first season, and got busy with other things, so I never got to the second one til now.

The show definitely deserved a third season.

I am disappointed to see Scott Bakula's character back to the same business he QUIT in the first season.

In the first season Bakula grow up enough to turn down a night with a married woman. That was a great first season episode. Unfortunately we find him back in the same place again with another committed woman in the second season.

I was HOPING he would grow UP and not DO that kinda business anymore. What's the point of having a character grow up on one episode, and then fall off the wagon in the next season???

That part was very disappointing.

Because people often fall back into old habits after they try to change?

His habit actually turned into a lot worse this time.. he actually moved IN with her.

I do'nt think that was the issue though. Since he dind't even seem to have any conscience about what he was doing... SHE did, but he didn't seem to care.

I think that it was more just an inconsistency in the writing.

Other than that, it was a pretty damn good show.

It's not an inconsistency in the writing. It's realistic. Some people who are like that do that.

Ya it is an inconsistency..

You don't have characters change for the better and then in the next season go back and regress like that.. UNLESS you write the story AS a regression.. in which case this was not.

Bakula's character never even CONSIDERED the fact that he was regressing.. it never came up.. never occurred to him.

No one at any point in time questioned how promiscuous the two were behaving through the whole season... while it WAS a major subject in the episode of the first season at the fund raiser for the school.

I guess God made an inconsistency when he wrote the life stories of alcoholics who turn down drinks only to later fall off the wagon. People shouldn't fall off the wagon after deciding to change. LOL.

I am talking about a written story, not real life.

Stories have a goal, a purpose, and a structure to them...

I am arguing this is bad writing, and your counter-argument is that if it happens in real lie, then the writing is fine? lol

Sorry dude, but just because it happens in real life, does not mean that transfers well to the screen as it stands.

If Bakula's gonna regress, it needs to be written AS a regression story, which it was not.. The second season wrote in this regression without any reference to the first season's episode ever happening.

It's just bad writing is all. It happens.

The show's overall writing was top notch... this was the only critical thing I noticed that was off kilter in my second season screening.
