Did Matthew really deserve to die?

He was mentally challenged and was forced into raping her by Johnny and the others, he clearly said he didn't want to do it and they made him do it, so wasn't he in a way raped as well? he was forced to have sex against his will. And he was very upset and feeling guilty about the whole thing afterwards, he was even crying in her lap apologizing to her.

Surely for the rest of his life he would have been in a terrible mental state and felt regret every day he lived, wouldn't that have been punishment enough for him?

I guess you could say she let Matthew off the easiest cause he just got shot and died instantly but he didn't deserve to die at all, he got no pleasure or enjoyment out of what he was forced to do, he threw up after it and was scared.

He was a loose end.

Thats not why she killed him though, she said his apology wasn't good enough. Her revenge wasn't about cleaning up loose ends so she wouldn't go to jail, it was about punishing those who raped her. Cause in part 3 we find out she changes her name and relocates, so they couldn't find her even if Matthew went and told someone.

And if she was worried about loose ends wouldn't the sheriff's wife and daughter be loose ends too? cause its rather obvious the strange woman who showed up and caused the Sheriff to panic when he found out she was there, is the one responsible for his death. And didn't she use her real name when she was around his wife and daughter as well?

I think it was more of a sympathy killing because really he would no body elese after all those others was gone.
