Why didn't he use the notebook to become rich?

Turner could have used it to kill some rich people and manipulate them before in such a way that they would first transfer all their money and assets to him...
Why didn't he do it?

reply

Would be very obvious that he is Kira.

reply

Not if he did it correctly. I think the real answer is that he was interested in punishing evil-doers, and not personal gain.

reply

Well, how does he make a bunch of millionaires transfer him money without getting found out?

reply

At 1:00 PM John Smith withdraws $1,000,000 in cash from his bank, places it in a duffel bag, drives to the McDonald's at the corner of 5th and Broadway and tosses it into the dumpster. He then drives to the Brooklyn Bridge, parks, and jumps off.

reply

Cameras would be all over the place

reply

Why would there be cameras anywhere other than the bank? And once his body was found, the investigators would learn he'd made the withdrawal, so it doesn't matter that there is a recording of him at the bank.

reply

Plenty of drug dealers, corrupt politicians and other evil-doers keep their money in cash, gold, diamonds, etc. He could order them to take all they have, go and burry it in some place and then to return home and have a heart attack. Also bitcoin is very popular these days with many people who want to keep their money hidden, he could easily order the transfer of bitcoin to his account...

reply

No man no! No bitcoin

reply

How would he explain to his Family that he is rich?
Also he was never interested in material things, just in bringing his sense of justice to the world, at least in the Anime.

reply

If you have a tool of such immense power, you are already rich. The next level is then, how to change and mold the world to your liking. We could indeed imagine that money would be part of this recipe at first, but would eventually mature into pursuing higher purposes, where fancy cars don't matter anymore... like for example, end the world of all evil. The way I see it is; these kids were a step ahead already... latent or perhaps full-blown psychopaths.
