Another 'Shakycam' disaster

Why oh why do the producers / directors / camera people think that hand held shaky cam jerky image jump cut swooping zooms never settling imagery is ENTERTAINING?

I have to rate this movie in the abyss of annoyance, despite the efforts of the actors. Frankly, the camera work ruined the story for me.

Please please please tell the production folks that nauseating the audience is NOT entertainment, NOT endearing, and NOT going to be tolerated. You're driving away your audience, whether you know it or not.

This audience of one finds that shakycam, jump cuts, swoops and zooms are visual pollution. An eight year old could do a better composition, IMHO.

The miserable trend to degrade the action with the visual equivalent of cacophony is inexplicable. It doesn't advance the story. It ruins it.

I know that this fad will pass - hopefully before the end of the 21st century.

Couldn't agree more.

I think it was the re-imaging/rebooting of BattleStar Galaticta and/or SG:Atlantis that started that damned annoying 'technique' of exterior shots of spacecraft being zoomed-cut-in-then-out-then-in-again.

The 'shakycam' in this movie is not too bad, I've seen worse, but it is annoying and distracting.
