Xavier's Bankrolling of Vincent's Campaign

Xavier does, as he later claims in court provide a lot of the financial backing for Vincent's election campaign. But wouldn't he have kept some financial records of this? Vincent's side denies this in court, but there isn't any evidence put forward on Xavier's behalf. This doesn't make huge sense. What he did as far as I can see was not illegal, though he does appear to have chosen to do it for the wrong reasons.🐭

He had kept all the receipts, but in one scene he mentions destroying them all before the cops get to them.
Most likely it was suggested by Vincent's step dad.

As for it being illegal, there are many restrictions around funding a campaign.
It seems one person can only offer up to 74k euros (which is more than what Xavier gave in the movie). There might be others... Maybe he funding being so large should have been made public? or other things that look like details to us, but shift it from being legal to illegal..

I don't remember that scene, but why would he destroy the receipts when he admits to providing a lot of funding for the campaign. It doesn't make a lot of sense.

Well yes. But again, the film never appears to be specific about what exactly Xavier has been charged and convicted (in a restricted court setting) with, or what laws he actually broke.🐭
