I'm not buying all of their stories

I've watched this show often and those times it's only been 2 occassions where I can say it was possible the woman didn't know she was pregnant. On 2 episodes I recently saw both times the woman was ill and did not seek medical attention even though she was spotting irregularly with no periods for months and was putting on weight but didn't know why! Something that could have been cleared up with one visit to a GYN! I've also noticed that quite a few of them likely don't want to deal with the fact they may be pregnant and therefore they don't do anything to find out.

Leading the blind squirrels of inquiry to the lost nuts of illumination.

I agree some of the stories just dont sound real.

Even more so the 1 or 2 were the girl was haveing problems and said she didnt think she was pregnant because she took 1 pregnancy test and it was false. Most people who think they need one usaly buy more than one and know to pee in the morning. And even so go to a dr to make sure or to at least find out whats wrong with them if its not pregnancy.

But honestly not to be rude. Some of those women didnt sound like the brightest bulbs.

If you're diagnosed with some infertility thing and told u'll never have a kid u tend to believe that. My friend didn't know she was pregnant til she was 7 months along but again she was a) diagnosed with pcos which makes your period irregular anyway and b) on the heavy side so no hugely noticeable weight gain. This is rare but it does happen, and if you're going to say to THIS many people? There are billions in this country so this is just a small handful of actual people

true.

I don’t buy half their stories. I am tired of hearing; well I was irregular for years so I didn’t get worried when I didn’t get a period. There is more to pregnancy than missing periods. I just don’t see how someone can claim to be skinny and carry a full size baby to term and not know. Really? Where did the baby go? Trying to tell us your size 3 stomach didn’t show you had a 9lb fetus in there to 40 weeks? Yea right.

I think a lot of these women are in denial and never wanted to admit the truth.

I gave birth at the age of 45 two years ago, and I didn't know I was pregnant until I was over 6 months pregnant. I took 2 pregnancy tests, and they were both negative. My doctor and I thought I was going through menopause. I didn't gain any weight and I didn't show until I was about 6 months.. I started showing then, and i looked at my expanding belly botton, and I said to myself: "This isn't menopause!" I was about 28 weeks along. I have 3 children, and I was never sick. Who would have thought I would be pregnant at my age?

onlycotia...your friend is lying when she tells you she didn't know until 7 months along.

shadycady...you already had 2 kids and then with this 3rd pregnancy you didn't know until 6 mos? B*llsh*t. Women are very intuitive, and for you to have already gone through it twice, there is no way you wouldn't know the 3rd time.

There is ONE and ONLY ONE way it would be possible for a woman not to know if she was pregnant and that would be if the baby was 100% still and did not move one inch the entire time, and that is 100% impossible. So any woman who claims they didn't know when they were 6,7,8 months...or even on the way to the delivery room are liars and looking for attention.

You don't know me at all. Everyone thought I was in menopause, and I didn't have any symptoms at all. I was 45 when I had her. You don't know s hit. I wasn't on birth control for 7 years and never got pregnant after that until then. Why bother with people like you who think they know everything?

I can totally respect that you didn't expect to get pregnant. That you didn't think there was a chance you could get pregnant. But I stand by what I said. No, I don't think I know everything. I get that you didn't think you would get pregnant, but 6 months in and you have absolutely 100% no symptoms? Sorry, don't buy it. The baby would've kicked and moved by that point and with your previous pregnancies you would have been able to immediately identify the feeling/sensation.

Again, no I don't think I know everything, I just have common sense

That isn't true. The only time I knew I was pregnant was with my second daughter. I bled for 3 months with my first, and I didn't find out until I was almost 4 months with her. Also, I was a bit overweight at that time in my life before I was pregnant with my third daughter, and she didn't move until I was 27 weeks. I went to the emergency room and I had an ultrasound performed to find out how far along I was after I purchased a pregnancy test which finally turned positive. I didn't gain any weight. I was talking to my sister saying it was all over for me, since I was in menopause. That was for months.

I started showing, and then I figured it out. I found out on Christmas day 2008 that I was pregnant, and my daughter was born on April 10, 2009. I named my daughter, Katherine Noelle, and the Noelle from finding out on Christmas day that I was going to have a late in life baby. I am almost 50, and I just wanted to tell my story. I thought it was amazing, and I wanted to share my story with other on here. Too bad for you. This was an incredible moment in my life. I also ended up losing 20 pound from January 2009 to the end of my pregnancy. I had my thyroid taken out a month after having my daughter.

Finding out at 4 months, I can believe that, that is reasonable.

And that must've been a fantastic present to find out on Christmas

Yes, it was a real Christmas present. I know it is late answering now, but thank you for your nice comment.

This subject is back in the news because a woman on a flight gave birth and said she didn't know she was pregnant. Not 100% sure I buy her story. But unlike you finding out after a few months (which is very possible) the women in the episodes on this show say they never knew the entire length of their pregnancies. That's what makes it so unbelievable.
With No Idea She Was Pregnant, Woman Gives Birth On Plane
(story written 5/17/15)

“Oh my God, I think we… have a kid,” Wesley Branch told his girlfriend Ada Guan when their newborn baby first started crowning — 36,000 feet in the air on a flight to Tokyo.

Guan and Branch had no idea that they’d be welcoming their newborn daughter to the world while on a flight from Calgary to Tokyo on May 11, because Guan didn’t know she was 37 weeks pregnant in the first place. Yet, as the plane flew over Russia, Guan began experiencing acute pains in her abdomen, and thought she was just having a stomach ache. She was moved to the middle of the plane where she sat on the floor, and three doctors tried to determine what was wrong. Then her contractions started getting stronger, and she was moved to first class where she began giving birth.

“I got moved to first class because I could feel something wanting to come out,” Guan told CBC News. “So, that was probably the moment I knew. I thought I was just gaining a little bit of weight, and then this happened.”

Cryptic pregnancies, as they’re clinically named, occur in one out of every 450 women. They’re often unknown until the 20th week of pregnancy or later. The couple was completely surprised, as only a month ago Guan had taken a pregnancy test — the results came back negative. It’s possible this happened because the test couldn’t pick up human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone that pregnancy tests look for, and one that also alerts the mother physiologically and psychologically that a baby is on the way.

Despite the sudden birth, the couple is ecstatic to welcome their daughter Chloe to the world.

My daughter, Katherine, is now 6-years-old, and I am now 51-years-old. I was 45 when I gave birth to her, and I thought I was in menopause. The two tests that I took came back negative, and so the months rolled by and I just thought I was in the twilight years of my life. I was starting to show by Christmas, and I knew by then that those tests were probably not reliable. I went to the hospital, and all the tests confirmed my pregnancy. I believe I was 27 weeks along. I did not have any doctor's care up until then, and I was taking medicine for high blood pressure. I was worried, since I was taking that medication which could have harmed my baby. I was very lucky she was fine. How many women give birth at 45? Not too many us. I just wanted to share my story. My family gets a kick out of it. My mother could not believe that I was pregnant. It was one big happy surprise. I got my tubes tied during my C-section too.

Something that also bothers me is the fact that even though the women had no prenatal care, they drank alcohol, smoked and/or did strenuous activity the baby is born completely healthy and at most times weigh normal weight. yeah right.

Pretty ironic, a cross being used to kill someone

reply

The only time I believe the women is when they give birth (or pass out etc) and the baby is delivered very small. 1-2 lb babies covered by muscle and fat can be overlooked.
