Is it set currently or back in the day? It looks back in the day....Anyone know?

It's apparently set in the last few years, certainly at some point since the Iraq invasion. This seems clear given that the 1991 gulf conflict is referred to as "Iraq - The Prequel" and/or "Part One" or similar (I'm paraphrasing, as I don't have the film on hand) during the card game.
