What I think could have been done better...(SPOILER)


....in retrospect, are the flashback shots they used of Alison, as she (supposedly) sets off for her walk on the fateful day (presumably to her death).

because in actuality, those shots never would have happened, right? Because the teenager didn't in fact set off like that in 1963? So, the filmmakers are lying to the audience by showing things that never really happened.

It could have worked if at the end, when the truth is revealed, you saw her taking the same slow, mournful walk, then she turned the corner at the gate and you saw her being placed in the car to be taken away in secret, and we realized she was looking back sadly at the mother she'd never see again (or something), but I thought this wasn't really very fair storytelling, the way it was presented throughout the entire series.
