Why didnt they even remotely age up the characters?

Having not read the book I got a tad confused at times, but I did like the film.

Yup. I thought it was great. Made out Heathcliff was fairly bonkers too.

Cool.

I got kind of confused too a little, and I even mixed up Catherine at the beginning of the movie with Isabelle later in the film—but I can suck really badly with faces in real life.

It was kind of amusing how no one seemed to age, and Heathcliff's and Cathy's hairstyles are the only ones that changed (that I noticed, at any rate).

I could've sworn there was a shot of Nelly looking much older by the end, but it could've just been the light. If anything, they didn't use much make-up to make her look younger.
