Bush + Routh appeared on 'Partners'

I learned about this movie on THIStv. It then occurred to me Brandon Routh & Sophia Bush were in the sitcom "Partners," which was cancelled real soon. Is it a coincidence these 2 actors were cast in the comedy because of "Table for Three"?
