Poor fighting skills

The protagonists were hopeless at defending themselves. Two skinny old hicks beating them up and killing them. they were a joke. Anyone who had martial arts training or tactical sense could have easily killed the two cannibals. The guy who escapes first doesn't even bother to secure the firearms on the wall when no one is around?

When he goes upstairs and finds the tape on repeat, cannibal comes up and looks at you? Why don't you kick the a$$hole down the stairs?

Or when the guy is getting choked then stabs the bald cannibal with an icicle. Hah, Really? You can't get out of a one handed choke from super thin guy? And then after you stab him and have the upper hand, you don't unleash and completely subdue/disable him?

Then the other guy wasting a shot to test if the gun is loaded? alerting the other guy that you are armed and know where you are? Wasting countless rounds on fatty?

Then you waste your last two shots at close range when buddy gets an arrow in his back?

Hopeless
