What bothers me is...

****Spoiler****

If this is based on truth then it disturbs me that at the end of the movie they told what the sentence was for each of the men for killing their cellmate. I don't remember the names but the most remorsefull guy got life in prison without possibility of parole. I guess because it was his idea. But the other 2 guys who were the worst ones (in my opinion) only got years added to their sentences. One got 8 years and the other got 15 years. That's seems so minimal for what they did.

The two guys pointed the finger at the remorseful guy. They said he was the one that killed the cell mate. So they got off for less time because the other guy was found guilty of murder and they weren't.

I really feel for Peter (the one who got the life sentence), i know he was part of the whole thing and he come up and was the one who knocked the chair under Mitch..but all his action were based on desperation and fear. He was so tearful and regretful in his interrogation and kept saying how there was a hierarchy in prison and it simply comes down to the fact that you either with them or the one getting *beep* up.On top of that he was the only one who gave a true account into what happened. In my opinion all three should've got close to life sentences.

I am shocked at Harry's complete lack of remorse, originally he showed some sympathy towards Mitch when Jack was giving him a beating over cleaning the floor, and then suddenly he switched into this cold monster.

For me, the thing that bothers me was at the end of the movie, there were scenes that shows Mitch and Peter were actually close i.e Mitch helping Peter with push-ups, they chatting etc...and of all the cellmates it was Peter who turn against Mitch.

i guess this means the version on Netflix really is a screw-up. they don't show any of this on their version. it cuts off as they guards are taking Mitch down. i kinda figured it was an "artsy" ending. lame. now i wanna see the end!

if you google the actual case (i googled "Siegburg prison 2006"), you'll see no one was given life sentences.. 10-15 yrs for what they did, if convicted in the US would be along the line of something involving accidental homicide. this was premeditated, and at the ages of the accused would waived them into adult court and life in prison, no parole.. they all got off light..

to be honest, i think he deserved the longer sentence. yes, he was in fact remorseful & the other 2 were clearly not. you have to take into consideration that mitch & him were the "friends" if you seen the last scene of them together. he stood by & watched knowing it was wrong & felt guilt, but went along with it any way (eat or be eaten, i understand that). it was his idea, also. so the other 2 fools were SICK, but he was supposed to be a friend.

This isn't because the guy said something that it was the truth. It's evident that any of them will try to make their participation less important.

the judicial systems are like that some days with wrong sentences being handed out. Pet did not deserve life in prison just as Mitch did not deserve to die
