As a Native gay man that has always been honest with myself and the world, I was pleasantly surprised when the God revered Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis as the origins of Rock - as he should have. BOTH men LITERALLY created the genre, giving it life.

What dismayed me was the comments about Little Richard's sexuality. For decades the man hide in his closet and he never came out of it. That was his right. But I kind of understand why. Being equated as a pedophile is not cool, as told as a joke to Lenny by none other than Good Ole Boy Billy Thorton is not a good thing.
Though Jerry Lee Lewis IS a confirmed pedophile, eventually marrying his 14 year old cousin, it is often said he started sexually abusing his would be child-bride at the age of 12, there are no jokes about him, nor any hushed laughter.

Dave Grohl went on to gleefully OUT Little Richard on camera, as if he was doing a public service, mentioning the man's WELL HIDDEN sexuality over and over again, as if it was a running punchline at the Laugh Factory.

I never understood why Little Richard continued to live his life in the closet, when it was clearly obvious he was a gay man. NOW - I understand why.

Billy and David - Not cool dudes, I expected better.
