Please tell me I'm not the only one who found Dave Grohl annoying.......

Look, I get it. Dave Grohl's a superfan. But he doesn't seem to know many other words besides f bombs in every single sentence which gets old, repetitive and boring really quick. Sorry, I find it annoying.
Sure, he should've been in the movie because of his passion for Lemmy but after a while it's like, ok, enough Dave already. He was in the movie IMO way too much and I think more people should've gotten a chance to talk about Lem. Fans, more musicians, whomever...

yes! I also found him annoying!

You're not the only two.

yes i hate that little *beep* too

I liked him, I thought he was cool. I respect him more for rating Lemmy over Keith Richards.

reply

well put. He did knock Keith Richards, cause he's not writing any new music. And lemmy is still himself and won't quit till they day he kick's it. But Keith Richards should of been dead 20 years ago.

Lemmy's a genious, Lemmy's a god, he's the greatest, the best there is, when you listen to Lemmy you listen to everything good that rocknroll ever had to offer...and this keeps going on and on from every talking head, no matter which one, they all say the same things. I saw this in translation and it's even more ridiculous. But hey, I like Lemmy.

reply

I find him to be annoying all the time,
he is good on drums but it's not my style of playing,
he is alright at song writing but again it's not my style,
but interviews and events,
what poseur and a wannabe he is.
It's probably cuz I'm an early 80's metal fan,
and he seems to sponge off of that very frequently.

Dave Grohl does indeed have a tendency to gush, but I'll give him some slack because I like his music. I was more annoyed (really more bored than anything) by the presence of such questionable interview choices as Dee Snider, Billy Bob Thornton and Kat Von D. This documentary occasionally veered away from the music into fashion territory, but thankfully there was enough music to sustain my interest.

I agree with all this except for Dee Snyder as Motorhead and Twisted Sister played together quite bit pre-major label TS, Fast Eddie from Motorhead produced their first album and they even did a cover of "It's Only Rock n Roll" together with Lemmy on British TV.

Most people are ignorant of Twisted Sister's early years so I know why you'd think this, I think Scott Ian and Nikki Sixx shouldn't have been in this thing either. More Lemmy, less celebs saying how important he is.

Yes, you are the only one. Not for nothing he's known as the nicest guy in music.

Grohl definitely got a bit over the top in his enthusiasm, but my understanding is that he and Lemmy are actually good friends, so it wasn't BS. Plus he summed up Lemmy's sincerity pretty well when he commented *beep* Keith Richards, and all those other 'rebels' flying around in jets and living up their gunslinger reputations... know what Lemmy's probably doing? Drinking Jack-and-Cokes and writing another record."

But what I found most amusing about that comment is that Dave Grohl himself uses private jets, etc like he was accusing Keith Richards of. I'm getting tired of putting on Rick dice and seeing Grohl. It's like a few years ago every doc about punk seemed to feel it had to have thurston Moore in it as the "word" on punk.

reply

Billy Bob Thornton was more annoying. He is not a successful musician and I got the impression he was only a new acquaintance of Lemmy.
