Uwe Boll Needs To Throw In The Towel...

His movies could be considered some of the worst in history. I guess it really shouldn't bug me that much as all I have to do is just not watch them, but it's almost like watching someone commit suicide... over and over and over again. This guys just doesn't get it.

Look at some of the movies he's making right now. This looks really interesting based on the trailer and behind-the-scenes footage. Not to mention his boxing movie "Max Schmeling" and his Vietnam film "Tunnel Rats". All of these films are clearly proof that he is getting better with practice.

reply

Perhaps. Only time will tell. He should be getting better as he has had enough failures to learn from.

reply

Funny enough I've never seen any of these supposed crap films he's made.

And frankly, "Darfur" looks like it's being made by a thoughtful professional. At least that's how Uwe Boll presents himself IMO.

If you don't believe me watch the behind-the-scenes documentary on Youtube. Putting aside Boll's filmography, this looks very sensitive and promising to the cause of Darfur.

reply

I actually saw RAMPAGE, STOIC and DARFUR and everybody around me
who saw this movie also ranked all three movies between "fantastic"
and "masterpiece". In the screening i went a big agent from ICM said
about DARFUR that this was the best movie of the year he saw. so all
the IMDB 9 and 10 rates for that movies are actually from the people
they saw that movies and all 1 points are from this guys who try to
damage BOLL and bring him out of business because its trendy. Boll
fights a lonely fight and he improved massivly - this two movies
together with TUNNELRATS are not average - they are actually better as
almost all other movies of the last 10 years. and if ou would actually
watched them - you would agree.

reply

Sure, there are exceptions. I should have said "most" of his movies are bad. Maybe these three are exceptional. I haven't seen them. All of his movies that I have seen have been absolutely awful. And of the ones that I haven't seen, most of them are awful also, according to just about everyone who has seen them.

As I said, these three movies you mentioned may be great, but overall, the guy is awful as a director.

reply

Sorry but Boll-Bashing is out of time. Of course he is not awful as a director. Dungeon Siege sold about 2.000.000 DVDs, Alone in the Dark started Rang 3 in China, Bloodrayne was Number 1 placed in Russia and so on ...

reply

Probably 75% of the people who have seen any of his movies would tend to disagree with you. But, then again, it is an opinion that he is an awful director. An opinion that most would agree with, but still an opinion.

reply

Any background information where the 75% come from? Why not 55% or maybe just 25%? This no fact and just your opinion. A fact is that Uwe Boll started rang 3 in China, Rang 1 in Russia and Spain and he sold 1,9 million DVDs from Dungeon Siege in the USA.

reply

63.8% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

You know, considering all of the bashing Uwe has taken in the last ten years, it's actually astounding that he has not only perservered, but keeps getting better. Let's be fair, even his bad films are no worse than The Super Mario Brothers film, G.I. Joe, Wicker Man(remake), Ghost Rider, or Batman & Robin. I would eat a whole bowl of s##t while waching House of the Dead before I would watch Batman and Robin again.

reply

That's very true, but there is one HUGE difference. The directors who directed those have not had every single one of their movies be atrocious. Don't get me wrong, Uwe most certainly isn't the worst director ever, but I can see why he has to finance most of his movies, as no major studio would. Just look at Dungeon Seige. He may have sold a lot of DVDs as the other post said, but the actual gamers thought it was awful. Oh well...there's nowhere to go but up.

reply

Actually i don't understand why gamers, who had a great interactive experience with one game would want to live a non-interactive experience on screen. Video games adaptations on screen are just non-sense to me, they're just made to be sold to casual and dumb gamers. House of the Dead and Resident Evil aren't good movies, but the Boll and Anderson had the good idea to try to make something different than the games, but that's why they're hated. So watch a movie directed by the developers like Resident Evil CGI movie, oops it's worst than what Anderson did...

reply

Why should he throw the towel?

1) He's getting way better since the last 2 year.
2) He's doing what he loves.

It's not really that critics decide what he should do.

reply

YOU're the one who just doesn't get it.

Grow up already!
