Is it just me or...

do all the kids on the show seem mentally retarded? They act way too slow to be preschool kids and just the way they talk. I came here to actually check if it was a show that was focused on children with down syndrome, but apparently it's not mentioned anywhere. I don't know, something is just sort of off about them.

(Oh, and please do not take offense to this post. No harm is meant).

I was talking to my wife about this. I love the show, as does my pre-school-aged son. But, I also was wondering if the class was a special ed class or something. Especially with the annyoing kid who is always late for "rug-time". lol But, it does teach a lot, and is fun to watch.

Not word up---just WORD.

Well I have thought that these kids actually talk older than the age they are supposed to be, rather than younger. However, my first thought at looking at all of their faces is that they have characteristics of people with Down Syndrome.

reply

I am under the impression they are supposed to be retarded as well.

reply

There are only 4 of them in the class too.

I have to agree

The first time I saw this with the little kids over my house I saw a rerun on late and honest to god until the PBS came on thought all the kids were mini drug addicts who had gotten brain damage (ala that other kid show.....uh....SOUTHPARK!)

On the other hand

How come Mei and Gerald seem like bleeping morons where as Sid and Gabrielle....ella whatever her name is both seem to be fairly smart and capable of seeming normal?

(example: The opening"Looking for my friends"......if this were for older people I would probably be like "this is kind of stereotypical")

"Because I knew you, I have been changed...for good."
" You flip flopping ass piece of bitch"

reply

I believe you get this feeling because all of the kids are motion captured Little People or Midgets.

I came on here because I was thinking the same thing...autistic or something. One at least.

Come on, Franklin! It'll be a fun trip!
