Gerald

Anyone else notice that Gerald sounds like an adult? What's up with that?

reply

Not really, but I feel like he's suppose to be the 'slower' kid in the class, and it kinda of gets on my nerves. But I do love this show.

I assumed he was supposed to represent every kid with adhd. He must be retarded also, along with May, who talks like she's a little "slow in the head". They kind of annoy me.

I thought that at first, but then I started to get the feeling he's supposed to be the class clown. He's always making jokes and being (dare I say) even sillier than the other kids. He's actually started to grow on me.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that sees that.

I just assumed he was a goofy, loveable, roughousin'-goofy-rowdy boy. Y'know, that goofy "boy's boy"-type who wrestles, eats worms & stick his tongue on a flag pole (both as a dare) & goofs off a lot. The kinda guy who befriends a frog.

Yeah, we call that retarded.

judging by the fact there's only 4 kids in the whole class, I'd say they're all in a special eds class

The kinda kid who will play football in high school and beat up sid mercilessly on a daily basis.

If the animators put anymore kids in the classroom, then the kids watching would get confused. I used to work in childcare/ pre-school, Gerald reminds me of the typical kid who just wants to be silly and goofy and play all day long, basically the class clown. I just can't stand his voice! LOL, I feel sooo bad saying that cuz this is a kids' show. And I don't think May is slow either. I had a little girl like her in a pre-K class I taught and her speech was kida slow too but it was because you could see her wheels turning as she was trying to find just the right words to use. I think that's how May is too. I mean, the kids on this show are all like 4 or 5 years old. My son is only 1 and he loves this show, mostly because of the songs right now, but as he gets older I think it'll be neat for him and me to do some of the science experiments that we see Sid and his friends do. It'll help re-enforce the lesson to him. My husband watched an episode one day and was amazed that a children's show is teaching science as well as this one is.

I think his voice sounds cool. A little huskey and hard but still cool. I LOVE the Gerald. he's my favorite character. I HATE May her voice sounds retarded and slow.
