The Countess? Dom Pedro? Father Dinis? Alberto de Magalhães? João/Pedro da Silva? Elisa

I thought that Father Dinis and Alberto were the most interesting. But Elisa, the manipulative femme fatale who seduces men to pit against Alberto, was also amazing. Her thirst for revenge and lack of feelings were fascinating.

This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.

Father Dinis all the way, he deserves his own spin-off series.

The Count of Santa Bárbara
probably. I thought there was more chemistry between him and Ângela de Lima then between her and her Joao's father. Hateful chemistry to be sure, but chemistry nonetheless. I would have loved it if the entire movie had been about their terrible marriage because the power dynamics between the two of them (her always resentful that he exerted so much physical control over her and him always resentful that he had married someone whose heart he could never have) would have been incredibly interesting. And the triangle between count, countess and Eugénia seemed incredibly dynamic in the few minutes we saw of it.
