Did you check to see how difficult it is to create an Imdb account? Did you notice this movie's rating was adjusted down from 8.8 to 8.3 due to new account votes?

This is the fanbase that, to put The Dark Knight in number 1 of IMDb a few years ago, decided to rate The Godfather at '1'.
Because of that, The Godfather now has a lower rating than Shawshank Redemption.

No, just fanboys riding the hype train. IMDb ratings don't make sense these days. You have to substract 2 from newer movies and add 1 (or 2 if a chainsaw is used as weapon) to older ones. This is my formula.

I tend to think anyone who is willing to sit through a 4 hour version of a film they have already seen is invested in giving it a good rating.
