Why Even Act Like It's Real?

This show is just reenactments based on real repo stories, right? Well if that's the case, why even act as though it's real with the characters, the made up repo company, and especially the cameras? Why do they even acknowledge the presence of the cameras if it's fake? If the stories these repos are based on did indeed have a camera crew to document the events, why not just use that footage instead? Doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense....
